Vote Mark Wiens (government)

This was a rush job, for a voting campaign.

Another developer had put together a basic design and build in Wordpress. Mark wasn’t totally happy with it, and asked if I could make some improvements. I didn’t want to host Wordpress – no need for it here at all – so initially I took a static snapshot of the site and served that, and made improvements to the HTML and CSS directly. But Wordpress and its various plugins’ output was all over the place, and so making the improvements I wanted to make was not straightforward. Besides, there were a lot of scripts and styles being included, most of which were doing nothing at all.

I realized a rebuild would probably be faster and more flexible, so that’s what I did. The result uses the existing site’s design as a basis, and is much, much lighter weight.
